Lua Cheia

Manuel Dias & Francisco Baptista

The visionary behind the Lua Cheia winery was the late, passionate entrepreneur, Manuel Dias.  In 2009 he joined forces well known wine maker Francisco Baptista.  The partnership led these 2 personalities on a path through the best wine regions in Portugal, purchasing various vineyards.  The initial production started with the purchase Quinta do Bronze located in Vale Mendiz in Pinhao.  In 2010 word began on an investment in a winery in Murca and today in the sub-regions of Moncao and Melgaco in theVinho Verde region.  Lua Cheia also owns vineyards in Quinta da Carvalheira and Barqueira.

In the Douro Valley, Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas produces the brands Lua Cheia, Andreza and Colleja whilst in the Vinho Verde region the brands Salsus and Maria Papoila are produced. Alvarinho and Touriga Nacional are the predominant grapes.  The white wines from the Vinho Verde region stand out for their freshness and well balanced acidity whilst the sheer richness and intensity of the Douro red wines sourced from the low yielding 70 year old vines is exceptional.
