Vieux Chateau Mazerat St. Emilion Grand Cru – Jonathan Maltus

Region

Bordeaux – Right Bank

What to expect:

This cuvée is distinctive, the aromatic profile setting it apart from the other wines, with chalky minerality, backed with a stunning nose of expresso, blackberry, mulberry and kirsch.  This wine is elegant and bold in structure, rich in feel, yet all that power is well balanced and honed.  A concentrated blackberry character is propped up by firm tannins and lasting acidity, which gives ample aging potential.  It is a well-balanced wine and should be enjoyed from 2024.

Only conveyors are used to transport the grapes and the wine is fermented in wooden vats after extreme cold maceration. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation in new French oak, and are barrel-aged in an air-conditioned cellar at 18 °C.
