What to expect

Ripe red fruits, blackberries, blueberries, plums, cherries and violet mixed up with tertiary aromas of cocoa, licorice, tobacco, cloves, black pepper and leather.  Great structure and boldness backed up by ripe red fruit and raspberry flavours with a backbone of tobacco and vanilla.  Layered tannins and well balanced acidity gives this wine a great harmonious finish

Vinification

Grapes are harvested during third week of October running into early November, after which they are crushed and fermented for a period of about 20 days in steel tanks in contact with the skin. Fermentation occurs with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature and malolactic fermentation is spontaneous.

Aging

18 months in steel tanks, then 18/22 months in barrel and 6 months in the bottle.

Food pairing:

Recommended with lasagna, first courses with tomato sauce, “arrosticini” (typical sheep meat from Abruzzo), braised meats, wild game, herbal and seasoned cheeses.

Alcohol: 14.5% Vol.

Serving Temperature:

18 °C. It would be ideal to open bottle about 3 hours before consumption

Aging Potential:

up to 10 years.
